In a change that has so far received mostly positive feedback, Destiny of Velious will likely alter the methods Tradeskillers will choose to level up most efficiently. While the Destiny of Velious NDA remains in effect, Domino has been allowed to share this change with the community to provide an opportunity for feedback before Velious (and its associated game update which we are calling Game Update 59 — SOE has yet to name it).

Most tradeskillers level up by first crafting new recipes (thus receiving a 200% Crafting Pristine Bonus), and then move on to writs (Rush Orders or Work Orders), and also fill in the gaps with other Tradeskill quests which have been added in the last 2 years. Tradeskill classes especially the scholars (Sage, Jeweler, Alchemist) have always been at a huge advantage here because of the number of new recipes earned with each level.

After the jump, Domino’s posting on the EQ2 Forums about the upcoming Tradeskill XP Changes:

Heya folks,

Waters gave me the OK to post in advance about a change we’ve been testing out in beta. It’s going to seem like a big change at first, but we feel it’s the best solution to an issue that’s been causing complaints since launch if not before.

The issue is the fact that the game awards an XP bonus to crafters the first time they make a new item to full quality (aka “the pristine bonus”).  Although this was long before my time at SOE, my best guess is that this was originally implemented because pristine was supposed to be the unusual, rare outcome of crafting, and the “normal” level of a crafted item was supposed to be the third bar of progress.  So this would have been intended to be a rare reward for an unusual feat.  However, almost immediately pristine quality became the standard, expected result of crafting, so everybody could make every item to pristine quality and thus get the bonus.  The side effect of this was that classes with more recipes therefore got more pristine bonuses, giving them a significant advantage to leveling speed.

The difference between classes in the number of recipes is pretty significant, mainly due to spells.  Scholars make the spells for adventuring classes, and with roughly 2 spell upgrades (at 2 quality levels each) per level per adventure class, and 24 adventure classes who can reach level 90 each, a little mathematics shows you that spells alone account for 8000+ recipes in total, an entire half of which (12 classes) are made by sages.  As everybody knows (and many frequently complain about) the other crafting classes get nowhere near this number of recipes. It would simply be impractical to try and give equal recipe numbers to everyone; for example an adventurer is never going to need 2 new weapons per level every level from 1 to 90 even if we could add that many more meaningful recipes, which we certainly could not. And it would benefit nobody in the long run to add more recipes that are useless, just for the sake of adding them.  Nor is it a simple or satisfactory solution to try giving classes with fewer recipes a larger bonus; we had a longer discussion about this in beta which I won’t detail here, but suffice it to say I don’t believe this could ever produce a truly fair balance and it would not be a simple or low-work solution to implement on the back end either.

The root of the imbalance is clearly the pristine bonus itself. It’s essentially a reward for having more recipes, so of course the classes with more recipes get more rewards.  Therefore, after much discussion, we believe the best solution is to remove the pristine bonus.  Without the bonus, it doesn’t matter how many recipes you have; everyone is on the same footing and nobody is either rewarded or penalized.

With the launch of Destiny of Velious, the pristine bonus for crafting will be removed.

The immediate next question is how that will affect leveling. Crafting items will continue to give the same amount of XP as ever, so whatever you get from making an item now, you will continue to get after the expansion launches. You just won’t get an extra bonus the first time you make it.  However, to compensate for the removal of the pristine bonus helping speed people along, what we have done is increase the amount of xp awarded by tradeskill quests (including, but NOT limited to, writs).

Tradeskill quest XP will be increased to compensate.

Basically, this is what we expect it to feel like:

  • if you formerly had very few pristine bonuses, and just crafted the same items over and over, leveling up will feel pretty much the same as ever.
  • if you formerly had a lot of pristine bonuses, and crafted one of everything in your new books, leveling up will feel slower after this change.
  • if you run through crafting quests and/or do crafting writs, the speed should feel comparable to how a scholar class would have leveled up with a ton of pristine bonuses prior to this change.  So, should feel like about the same leveling speed for scholars, and will probably feel a bit faster for classes with few recipes.
  • there is no longer any need to make one of every item in your recipe books just to turn around and sell them to a vendor, which should be nice.
  • there is no longer any reason to hold off on making your exciting new items until a level cap raise to “save up” pristine bonuses – if you have a recipe and want to make it, do it!

Overall, nobody should be leveling up slower, and low-recipe classes will find it now feels faster, since they will now be on an even footing with the scholar classes.

I realize that big changes like this will always have a mixed reaction, and change is always worrying in general and takes some time to get used to. Unfortunately, I don’t believe there is any one perfect solution here that would please everybody completely – life just isn’t like that, alas – but I do believe this is the best solution we could find to produce the best outcome for the majority.

Once Destiny of Velious goes live, I’m sure there will be a lot of feedback on the changes, and we’ll be keeping an eye on it to see whether there are any issues or whether the xp bonus needs tweaking at all.  In the mean time, I hope that you’ll take the time to think about the reasons I’ve explained above, and wait until the expansion to try it for yourself before drawing a conclusion about the changes.

Thanks for reading!

It is also worth pointing out that due to how Tradeskill Vitality works, doing quests has always been advantageous to doing individual combines and getting the Pristine Bonus. This change could be very welcome indeed.

More from Domino:

I do suggest waiting to draw firm conclusions about it until you’ve actually had a chance to try it when Destiny of Velious goes live. With a complex system like EQII’s crafting, it’s very difficult to accurately predict how a change will “feel” until you do physically try it out in game.

If you have only ever done Pristine Combines followed by Rush Orders, you may be surprised to learn just how many Tradeskill quests there are from level 10-90.

It looks like some unexpected changes to Research Assistants have hit the Test server. Spell and Combat Art upgrades are now possible without any involvement by a Sage, Jeweler, or Alchemist. And instead of hailing an NPC, Research is being folded into the interface.

From the Test Copy notes:

RESEARCH

  • The Research window has been moved in to the Knowledge window.
  • Journeyman through Master spell tiers can be researched.
  • You are no longer required to speak with a Research Assistant to start/change/claim research.

Before:

  • Hail a Research Assistant NPC to begin researching an upgrade for a player-crafted spell or combat art to turn it into a dropped spell or combat art. Hail the NPC again to pick up the Expert or Master.
  • Hail Research Assistant NPC again in a number of days commeasurate with the spell’s level to pick up the upgrade.
  • Journeyman (player crafted COMMON spell or combat art) can be upgraded to Adept (dropped TREASURED spell or combat art).
  • Expert (player crafted RARE spell or combat art) can be upgraded to Master (dropped FABLED spell or combat art).
  • Sage, Jeweler, and Alchemist tradeskillers are needed to make Journeyman and Expert spells.

After:

  • Open Research window to begin researching any upgrade for any spell (Journeyman, Adept, Expert) to the next tier.
  • Players can buy an Adept spell off the broker for 7-12 gold and upgrade it through Master with enough patience, cutting crafters out of the equation altogether.
  • Sages, Jewelers, and Alchemists start looking for a more lucrative class to train up in.

It seems that ever since the new Inquisitor trainer in Qeynos prematurely offered the ability to reset any class to Inquisitor, players have let their imaginations run wild with the possibilities of switching between classes without losing their AAs, completed quests, etc. Imagine a character who has completed all 24 epic weapon quests!

Just to nip this idea in the bud, EQ2 Lead Designer Rich Waters has clarified further the purpose of this quest — to aid Tradeskillers who made a hasty choice on their adventure class and have not significantly advanced that character.

While the exact parameters of the Class Reset Quest, as we are calling it, have not been laid out, and there is still some internal discussion on the EQ2 team about this, here’s what Mr. Waters has posted on the subject:

The only new class change being considered is intended to help established crafters who want to reset their adventure class. If we add this, it will be as an in-game quest.

This is based on an existing feature in game – if you have a high-level adventurer, you can reset your crafting class to level 9 and pick a different one. So if you’ve got a level 90 monk and wish he was a carpenter instead of whatever you originally picked, you can reset your tradeskill level to 9 and level up as a carpenter, without affecting your adventure class at all.

and further…

The goal is to provide an option for players who’ve put a lot of investment into their crafting class, and not as much into their adventure class and don’t mind essentially starting the adventurer over as long as they keep their crafter intact.

This change wouldn’t be for people who’ve put a whole lot of time into their adventuring class.

Myth Busting…

And just to bust some myths. At the present time, this is not planned as a StationCash potion or in-game potion, but a quest, similar to the existing tradeskill class reset available in West Freeport and North Qeynos from the Tradeskill Career Advisor.

Although Niami has advised that she is still working on adding more information to her Game Update 57 article, if you are up early and want to keep up on everything EQ2 Tradeskills, by all means check out her Game Update 57 Tradeskill Preview @ EQ2Traders!

Today marks the introduction of Game Update 57 to the live servers. Key features of this update include:

  • The EQ2 User Interface has received a facelift, with a new toolbar, a refresh of various windows, and a merged Character/Inventory/Profile window. The default theme is red, but easily switchable to blue by typing /loadui and choosing the Blue graphic set.
  • More character classes are now neutral and may start in either good or evil cities.
  • Spell animations and effects have been revamped.
  • Intrazone travel now supports path linking. Travel within Kingdom of Sky has been improved.
  • Erudin group instances (level 86-90) are now easier to reach.
  • New tradeskill quests have been added in the level 10, 20, and 30 tiers. These quests reward a mount as well as access to what have previously been overpriced Advanced recipe books.
  • Starting areas in Greater Faydark and Darklight Wood have received substantial revamps. Gorowyn has received further architectural rebuilding to improve navigation.
  • All classes have had some group-specific spells postponed until later levels to reduce the number of spells new players get in the first 20 levels.
  • Fighter heals will no longer critically heal.
  • The “Notable Norrathian” contest winning paintings are now available within Norrath but only during the monthly City Festivals (next is Sept 1-7). They are guild hall placeable.
  • Lucan D’Lere has returned to Freeport.
  • Today’s update contains no new dungeons or raid zones.

EQ2X

Also going live today is the public beta for EverQuest II Extended, the Free-to-Play alternative to a monthly EQ2 subscription. Game Update 57 will arrive simultaneously on both servers. EQ2X, as it’s being abbreviated, may be discussed on the separate EQ2X Forums.

Here are your detailed Game Update 57 Notes for August 18th, 2010:

QUEST REGIONS OF INTEREST

  • Many quests will now highlight areas on the map to show where updates can be obtained.
  • Quests must be active in the quest helper window for their RoIs to display.
  • Mousing over a quest in the quest helper window will highlight its corresponding RoIs on the map.
  • Mousing over RoIs on the map will display info on the quest they are associated with.
  • Quests in the following zones currently support this feature:
  • Frostfang Sea, Darklight Wood, Greater Faydark, Timorous Deep, Lavastorm, Kylong Plains, Butcherblock, Steamfont, The Barren Sky, The Bonemire, Tenebrous Tangle, and Sinking Sands.

USER INTERFACE UPDATES

  • The Default UI now ships with two color options; red and blue.  Use the /loadui command to change color schemes.
  • A clock and compass have been integrated into the mini-map window (the old compass and clock UI elements were not removed and can be opened using Alt-N and Alt-C respectively).
  • At the bottom of the screen you will now find the Nav bar, which replaces the old experience bar and includes the EQII button and shortcuts to various UI windows (you can right-click minimize/maximize the NAV bar to hide the various shortcut keys, except for the SC and EQII buttons).
  • New tutorial windows have been created to help ease new players into the game.
  • The Marketplace window has been upgraded for easier browsing.  An item preview pane has also been added.
  • The Welcome window layout has been reorganized to make it easier to read.
  • The Inventory and Persona windows were merged to create the Character window (the shortcut key for this new window is C).
  • Z is now the default for crouch.
  • The casting, breath and PvP immunity bars have been updated with a new look.
  • The hotbar has been reworked and is now easier to manipulate.
  • If a new spell is a newer version of an old spell on your hotbar it will replace the older version rather than adding a new button on your hotbar.
  • Spell effects that are not able to crit will say “This effect cannot be critically applied” in the spell description.
  • You can now freely move any UI window when viewing them in F10 mode.
  • You can now disable the confirmation when spending AA points under Options -> UI -> Game Features.

CHARACTER CREATION

  • The character creation process has been reorganized for a better flow (models will now default to their SOGA versions during character creation).
  • More classes are now neutral:
  • Neutral: Troubador, Dirge, Ranger, Assassin, Templar, Inquisitor, Fury, Warden, Coercer, Illusionist, Wizard, Warlock, Bruiser, Monk, Guardian, and Berserker
  • Good: Swashbuckler, Mystic, Conjurer, and Paladin
  • Evil: Brigand, Defiler, Necromancer, and Shadowknight

SPELL FX REVAMP

  • We are updating, optimizing and standardizing every class spell visual in the game.  AA and Entertainment spells are next on the list and will be revealed in a later game update.
  • The purpose for these changes are primarily to optimize and individualize as many spells as possible so there will be more uniqueness to each class.   Also we would like for more players to have the ability to keep the spell FX active during group and raid content and still be able to tell what is going on.
  • We analyzed the text and effects of each spell and made every effort to standardize the type of damage being done or the type of buff, heal, summon, etc.  Also since we picked a single name for the spells instead of getting a new name with every spell upgrade, we tried to give the spell a visual that not only matched the damage done, but also the name of the spell.
  • When you start a new character you will have Apprentice spells.  This spell tier along with Journeyman will have a beginner level of FX in both size and quantity.  Later when you acquire Adept or Expert versions of the spells the level of FX will increase.  Finally when you acquire Master and Grandmaster versions of the spells you will experience the full FX force of that spell.
  • One of the unique features of spells in EverQuest II is the leveling of spell skills.  As you cast destructive spells your skill in Disruption increases.  Healing spells increase Ministration.  Buff and debuff spells increase Ordination and Crowd Control and Summon spells increase Subjugation (see figure a in the Game Update Notes forum section).  Other than the chat window there was no real indication which spells increased which status.  Therefore we created the spell wheel.  Mages, Bards and Priests will see the spell wheel spin while casting and the corresponding Rune will show up when that skill is used.  Casting runes will all emanate from the caster’s feet as part of their traditional casting rings.
  • Finally we set up Icons for the various other buffs in the game to show players when they are getting an increase or decrease to Intelligence, Wisdom, Focus, etc. (see figure b in the Game Update Notes forum section)

TRAVEL

  • Inner zone travel locations now support path linking. This means when travelling via sokokar/horse/balloon you will be able to select any location in the zone that is an available travel point and let the mount do the rest.
  • The KOS cloud pads can now teleport you to any other pad within the same zone.
  • Cloud travel around KOS zones can now be done via the Overrealms Tour Agency.  They offer tour route services for Tenebrous, Barren Sky, and Bonemire.
  • The zone-ins for the erudin group instances have been reworked:
  • ·         All three zones are now reachable by clicking the appropriate object at Marred Plateau.

  • Priests will now receive “Wrath” at level 6.
  • Clerics will now receive “Soothe” at level 30.

The team over at EQ2 ZAM have buckled down and delivered complete documentation to the new Tradeskill quests being added in Game Update 57. These quests now fill out the entire level 10-90 range in EQ2 with at least a few Tradeskill quests on each tier so you have some options other than discovery XP from new combines and grinding Rush Order writs.

Of course these quests provide new rewards, including a 25% runspeed mount which, for some players who have low level adventurers but high level tradeskillers, will be quite useful.

These new level 10-30 tradeskill quests will also help players who think paying over 1 plat for a level 10-30 Advanced crafting recipe book is a bit over-the-top. At the conclusion of these quests, players will be able to buy Advanced recipe books from a vendor.

To get a grapple on the details of these quests and their rewards, check out the EQ2 ZAM guide.

It appears the Game Update 56 notes left out an interesting and (for players with many alts) fortuitous quest tweak.

The quest To Speak as a Dragon needs almost no introduction. It’s a crucial language quest which is key to completing many other quests in EQ2, including Epic Repercussions. This quest requires crawling the depths of 26 different dungeons to find the necessary runes to learn the language of Draconic. Despite dramatic improvements in travel since EQ2’s launch, it’s still a tedious quest, especially if you have done it with 2 or more characters.

So this quest received some changes with Game Update 56. From Domino (clearly branching out from tradeskills):

As of the launch of Game Update 56: Halas Reborn, any character that completes “To Speak As A Dragon” will receive an heirloom Tablet of Draconic Runes in addition to learning the dragon language.

While this is an important quest and was a very exciting and community-building event in its time, it is not longer necessary for every alt to do the quest individually. At least one character on your account does need to do the quest the “full” way, but all subsequent alts can simply acquire the quest in the normal manner, then study the tablet when they are on the step to learn the runes. In essence: your first character made excellent notes on the runes s/he studied, it allows him/her to teach your alts the runes directly.

Of course, if your alts prefer to finish the quest the long way by collecting all the runes, they can still do so.

Any character who had already completed “To Speak As A Dragon” before this change can obtain a copy of the Tablet of Draconic Runes from Shady Swashbuckler in Nektulos Forest if they wish.

Apologies that this somehow didn’t get into the full update notes, but hopefully this calls it out so everyone will be aware of it now.

EQ2Players is highlighting another team member, this time Jeff Jonas, player artist for EverQuest II.

My role on the EQII team is to create objects that our player characters use, wear, or ride. I am known as a “wearables” guy. A project like this needs thousands of items to make it fun and exciting. Wearables run the gamut from Barbarian helmets, to collector’s capes, and full vampire armor sets, to wieldables such as swords and staffs, to rideables like the hover discs I have created. Other wearables can be backpacks, or armbands.

What’s your favourite thing that you’ve done for EQII?

To keep things fresh we have incorporated ways to streamline and add to our character templates. Since we support over 50 male and female player characters, we need to be careful to change our templates. One way we have made things more interesting is our “snap-on” system that uses offset to add objects to existing templates.

The newest exciting technology we implemented was designed by Bill Yeatts, and coded by Brian Belfield. This cool system allows our backpacks to have items swivel and bounce around like real objects kind of do- without additional animator time. This allowed me to make a few popular backpack items such as the Frostfell backpacks of last year, and the latest Brewmeister barrel backpacks. Other backpacks are coming for other tradeskills as well. It’s a lot of fun to see the items bouncing along in our test viewer.

Do you have any special (or just super fun) projects you’re working on now for EQII?

I reckon the new backpacks I alluded to above are the most exciting things upcoming in my work path. Right now I’m focusing on warm garments for certain icy areas, and tinkering with some other items. EQII always has something interesting lined up for me down the trail.

You can read the complete interview as well as see additional screen shots of character artwork that Jeff has created at EQ2Players.

As of now there is no downtime listed, but I would guess there is quite a long patch incoming. Shards of Destiny, game update 53, has been announced to go live tomorrow, September 23. So what kind of goodies can we expect from this update? There is a whole lot of stuff incoming with GU 53!

Achievements

The new achievement system gives players a fun new way to track their accomplishments! Most achievements will award players with achievement points that can be used to compare their progress against other players. Some harder to complete achievements will offer non-stat item rewards. The basic categories are General, Dungeons, Exploration, Player vs. Player, Quests, Raids, Tradeskills and Triumphs. Triumphs are large scale achievements that combine multiple achievements into one large one. An example of this would be to do all of the combat, quest, and exploration achievements in a specific area.

Chronomagic

A number of mysterious erudites have set up in Qeynos, Freeport, Neriak, Gorowyn, and Kelethin. Any player level 20 or higher can speak to them and for a small fee temporarily lower their adventuring level.
This works similarly to mentoring except:
You do not need a mentoring target.
You can only choose levels in increments of 5 (10, 15, 20, etc).
You do not receive the bonuses granted from mentoring other players (currently you receive a very large bonus to AA gain while mentoring another player, this is not granted by the Chronomagic system).
The chronomagic will last until cancelled (right-click on your nameplate or /unmentor). Once cancelled, you must return to any Timeless Chronomage to reactivate the effect Additionally, 37 new missions have been added that work similar to The Shadow Odyssey’s daily doubles. They task players with slaying various bosses within zones of all levels throughout Norrath And, of course, these missions reward players with an array of exciting new items!
Chronomagic works the same on PvP servers as it does on PvE servers. However, it also has all the same restrictions as mentoring—namely that you cannot engage in PvP combat while the chronomagic effect is on your character. This makes it quite a bit more dangerous on PvP servers, so good luck and be careful!

Bosses and Events

As part of the chronomagic initiative, a pass was made through old-world overland and contested dungeons to greatly increase the frequency with which bosses and events spawned or occurred. Many placeholders and placeholder ring events were either removed or weighted much more heavily toward actual bosses spawning. Some of the notable highlights include placeholders being removed from: (Note: These are all from forum feedback)
Crypt of Betrayal – Specter of Ire
Enchanted Lands – Chomper
Everfrost – Chieftain Iceburn
Feerrott – Screaming Mace HQ targets Agony, Hukulan, Kaxor, Xilarga, and Tzugaax. Also Bouncers Prud, Hurd, Fug, and Flerb who were also changed to no longer despawn
Greater Faydark – Crushbone Expedition Leader, Chef, Weaponsmith, and Planner
Lavastorm – Fire Toad, Magolemus
Nektulos – Dannian Blackleaf – removed respawn time and despawn time, should always be up now
Obelisk of Lost Souls – Mediums of Dyrt, Cron, Iza, Odris, Norrath, and Lysys, Soul Harvesters Kul, Na, Gron, and Zej, Avulsor
Old Telescopic Lens (quest starter for The Staff of Observers) drops much more frequently
Zek – the Orchish Wastes – Sentry Goorlux
Palace of the Awakened – Skylord Stormclaw, Advisor Soliddar
Rivervale – Willowmaw the Rotting
Ruins of Varsoon – Weavemaster Esh’rax, Tome of Life, Tome of Death, The Creator
Solusek’s Eye – Enforcer Maj’Fahd, Soulslaver Djar’veh, The Speaker of Fates, The Castigator, Lord Crana, Onyxlam
Steamfont – Bulka Bloodhorn, Digmaster Pechpooka, Slave Pechmooka, Scout Pechyooka
Steppes – Stiletto, Bloodtalon
Stormhold – a caveroot horror, Battlepriest Alexandria
Stormhold – The Scions – Archiovianix, Hephinntari, Qelinatias, Tumarinan
The Vestibule – The Medium of Hykor
Tombs of Night – The Leucous Maw

There are a large number of ring events that work similarly in these zones: Antonica, Commonlands, Everfrost, Sinking Sands, Enchanted Lands, Feerrott, Nektulos, Zek – the Orcish Wastes, and Thundering Steppes. They had a very high chance to spawn a placeholder, a small chance to spawn a boss, a small chance to spawn a shrine that buffs the player, and a small chance to spawn a number of different merchants. The chance to spawn a placeholder was greatly reduced and there is now a very high chance for one of the ‘events’ to occur. The merchants were all combined into the ‘rare’ merchant, who will now always spawn for that event. They also have a much larger merchantlist, and will buy, sell, and repair your gear! Contested Epic spawns in lower level zones were lowered to spawn every three days (with a large variation) instead of once a week.

A number of x2 and x3 contested mobs were downtiered because they had a 0% chance to drop fabled gear. They were lowered to triple-ups and their spawn times were adjusted accordingly. The contested epic mobs who did have fabled loot were given a 100% chance to drop at least one fabled item each time they are slain. Some of the mobs changed include:
Allidax the Ancient
Alrendi Thoughtsong
Broog the Banished
Commander Nagrat
Cragshell
Cyenadros, Lord of the Sanctum
Doomsquall
Equestrielle
Grimfeather
Haraghur the Deathless
Haywire Opticron (lowered to one-up and added loot)
Lavin Dusk
Mangler
Meathooks
Scytheclaw
Spiregazer
Ssilth Rageclaw
The Unseelie JumJum Thief
Vox

In general, most named mobs (with some exceptions) changed by this pass have a very high chance to drop treasured. Those with rare fabled items had their chances to drop raised significantly as well.
Named mobs in New Tunaria should have a 100% chance to drop legendary gear, and a much higher chance to drop Cloak of Flames pages now!
A new boss has found his way into Sebilis.
Bosses in Sebilis and Chardok should match Karnor’s Castle and spawn every 45 minutes + variation.
The despawn timers from all of Kylong Plains’ rare mobs have been removed.
The Fiery Apparition in Lavastorm should spawn once again.

Miragul’s Planar Shard

Has Miragul himself returned to Norrath? Perhaps the answer can be found within in Miragul’s Planar Shard, a new raid zone connected to Everfrost. The zone features a variety of encounters, some of which can be completed in regular mode, or for those seeking additional challenge and rewards, a more challenging mode.

Shard of Love

The Sisterhood of Erollisi has returned to Antonica with grave concerns! Adventurers interested in helping them should seek out a Disciple of Love in Antonica, Kelethin or Gorowyn. Those with more devious intentions should seek out Disciples of Hate within The Commonlands, Neriak or Gorowyn.
Teleportation Spires Event

The Quellithulians are hard at work reactivating the Ulteran Teleportation Spires across Norrath! They may be found in Antonica, Commonlands, the Thundering Steppes, Nektulos Forest, the Enchanted Lands, Zek, the Orcish Wastes, the Feerrott, Everfrost, Lavastorm and Loping Plains. A wide variety of rewards is available for players who assist their project.

As a side effect, items affected by this change will unattune and be sent to overflow initially upon first login.
