Multi-attack Not Working on Offhand Weapons

In a two different forum threads, players reported that Offhand Weapons are not multiattacking unless their timing is staggered (use a combat art to interrupt one, or use weapons with two different delays). Zoltaroth’s response:

We found what is causing this and are working on a fix. Most likely the fix will be in the next hotfix after tomorrows (ie: not tomorrow).

Battlegrounds Tokens for 2 Gold

For testing purposes, Battlegrounds Tokens were placed on the PvP Vendor for 2 gold a piece on Test Copy. Unfortunately, these cheap tokens made their way through to live and as a result, some players on Nagafen have stockpiled thousands of tokens. Some players have even transferred from other servers to Nagafen just to buy them. Olihin says this will be addressed:

This was not intended as stated and we are taking steps to resolve the issue. We appreciate the report and patience while this is resolved.

We thank those that had the restraint to NOT buy the tokens, since it was a bug that the token was there to begin with.

Battlegrounds Disabled, Characters Stuck in Lobby

From the in-game EQ2 MOTD:

The Battlegrounds are temporarily unavailable. Attempting to zone into the BG lobby will cause your character to become stuck. Please refrain from going to Champion’s Respite until the battlegrounds are available once again! If you are currently stuck, please petition a GM. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Battlegrounds Tokens 2g on PvP

Players are reporting a bug that made it to the PvP servers (Nagafen and Vox) from Test causing Battlegrounds tokens to cost just 2 gold pieces on PvP servers. Who knows how many players will transfer to Nagafen for the nearly-free gear.

AA XP Display Bug

Players are reporting receiving the message “You convert 1 experience into AA experience!” with their AA slider set to 100%. This would seem to be a display error as I personally tested killing a few mobs and received the normal amount of AA XP (about 1/3% for a group of 3 mobs in Velious).

New Adornments System

So far, the new Adornments display is receiving mixed reviews.

New Public Quest in Eastern Wastes Postponed

During Destiny of Velious beta, there was a third Public Quest in Eastern Wastes. As it did not appear today with Game Update 60, we must assume that it has been delayed further.

If you’ve toured Destiny of Velious, you know of the unused Wizard Spire in the Eastern Wastes and abandoned Dragon Ring in the Great Divide. An upcoming live event, recently pushed to Test and Test Copy by Gninja, seeks to rebuild them. These events will be more like Public Quests than past events.

Both events share one currency [tokens] and currency can be obtained in two ways. There are blue collectibles that spawn around the event area. The number of collectibles vary based on the progress of the event. The second way is by defending the respective areas from the attacks that happen when the events kick off. When you enter the area you should receive a quest.

When the events kick off the area should be attacked by waves of attackers. Defeating these attackers and minimizing NPC casualties will reward progression. Allowing them to die will slow progression. As the events gets further in progression the difficulty of the waves will increase.

There is no planned tradeskill component to these events, without engaging in combat, there are options to acquire tokens. Gninja again:

The tokens also spawn around each of the areas as ground spawns like in Tinkerfest.

This event may go live with, or after Game Update 60, it’s not clear.

Fastidious crafters took advantage of yesterday’s update and trundled back to the daily Tradeskill Group instances for a chance to loot one of the two volumes of the new Far Seas Strategic Pricing 3rd Edition. As with past editions, these recipe books allow crafters to create shard armor and jewelry for players with a reduced number of tokens/shards. Interestingly, neither players nor crafters must have faction with the Ry’Gorr to make or receive this armor or jewelry. They do however require the designated dungeon-dropped crystals.

With yesterday’s Test Update Notes, we found out that the current Velious shard armor will be dropping from 70 to 52 Primal Velium Shards per piece.

However it seems the recipe book to craft shard armor has been partially updated to reflect the new shard prices. Assassins, Berserkers, Brigands, Bruisers, Coercers, and Conjurors (all classes starting with A, B, or C) are asked to pony up 63 shards per piece, while all other classes pay 40 shards per piece. Nindaene, the player who brought up this issue, also noticed that crafted armor has more mitigation than Ry’Gorr purchased armor.

Domino posted on the issue:

As you may have noticed from the Test server update notes today, we are in the process of lowering the shard costs of the armor. However, it looks like some of the recipes were pushed live with a lower cost than they should have been set to yet. So yes, these prices are an error and will likely change again as we are still in the process of adjusting the prices based on feedback. We’ll get that corrected as soon as possible (hopefully Thursday) but in the mean time it might be safest to hold off on crafting the items, since the final shard cost is not yet finalized. Apologies for the error, and thanks for pointing it out!

To participate in Tradeskill Group Instances, crafters must have completed the Ship Out tradeskill quest line and then may pick up the daily Group Tradeskill Mission on the Isle of Mara. These missions can be soloed, but considering you must make 108 combines — 96 of them for other tradeskill classes — it’s really better to bring a friend. There are currently four rotating missions, one available per day: Shipyard Services, Clockwork Rescue, Supply Stocking, Emergency Portal Repairs)

There have been many reasons in the past not to allow PvP to PvE or PvE to PvP server transfers. Over the years, with itemization changes and server merges, some of those reasons have become less important. From Rothgar on the EQ2 Forums:

We’ve created a poll and asked for feedback related to PvP and PvE transfers over in the PvP forums. Since many players may not watch that forum, I wanted to make a post here because this decision can impact PvE servers as well.

Please feel free to vote and post your feedback/opinions in this thread.

PvP to PvE Server Transfer PLAYER POLL

The question: How do you feel about allowing Marketplace transfers to/from PvP and PvE servers?

and in response to the question of whether Rothgar is reading both the original thread AND poll thread:

I’m definitely reading every post in this thread. I think many people look at recent hot topics and the dev tracker, so it should get plenty of publicity even in the PvP forum.

On the idea of allowing Copies instead of Transfers:

Regarding copy tokens, yes I agree it would be nice, but it creates lots of problems that are more difficult to solve. A copy is in essence duplicating your character and everything on it. Players could load a character up with all the plat they could find and then copy that character over. Then you can move the plat and items to another character and copy it again.

This is why we wipe everything thats tradable when copying to EQ2X. We’d have to do the same here. We also wouldn’t be able to allow transfers off of the PvP server for characters that had been copied from a PvE server or you’d be able to duplicate a character by just paying for a copy + transfer back. There are probably other issues out there as well, so for now, transfers are the way to go.

Regarding the time frame, we would be looking to do something pretty soon, but don’t have a date set yet.

and regarding Vox and the Bazaar:

Also to address the question about Vox and The Bazaar, we would allow transfers between the two assuming we don’t run into a technical problem.

If you have been remiss in venturing in the past in the EverQuest 12th anniversary Chronoportals event to get all the items your characters may need now and in the future, today is your last day!

If you haven’t checked these out and the loot available from them, check out the Portal Event Treasure thread (scroll down a bit for the list of loot). If you need help with the locations and strategies for these events, check out the Chronoportals Event Guide.

Also, there are several books, paintings, and of course house replicas of the nameds monsters from each Chronoportal instance. As they are replicas they cannot be resized or placed in a guild hall, but they will fit in any guild hall. They are also LORE NO-TRADE. Having dozens of giant Allizewsaurs rampaging around a guild hall would have been hilarious. :) It is unclear if the Chronoportal merchant, currently located in Antonica, will be staying on after the event, so spend those tokens (I’ve still got dozens) now!

By the way, ttobey, who animated the Allizewsaur T-Rex model for EQ2, has posted a video showing its different animations and states.

Also, as Domino posted, if you looked at the paintings a few days ago and were puzzled that one of them showed a dwarf, that was actually an EQ2 launch painting that snuck through. It’s since been changed to match the actual artwork that was planned for this event.

The Chronoportals event ends at 10AM PDT, 1PM EDT, 18:00 GMT, 19:00 Central Europe time.

From SmokeJumper on the EQ2 Forums:

Hey, folks,

I just wanted to post and let you know that a bunch of accounts (less than 100) got a temporary suspension tonight.

Why?

Because some of them were invited to Beta and then found a way to shortcut the gryphon quest series, which takes a minimum of five days to complete, and were able to do it in minutes. They then told others how to do it and the rest followed along, duplicating the exploit.

To be clear, this exploit was sealed up this morning and isn’t possible any longer, but these players were cheating to show off gryphons earlier than is possible by even the fastest player and to claim discoveries before non-cheating players (even going so far as to use the free transfer tokens today to claim those discos on other servers).

This kind of exploiting really ruins the chase and fun for other players and we just can’t condone it in the game.

It’s extremely clear which accounts were doing the exploiting because they were getting gryphons far in advance of what’s actually possible, and a big percentage of them did it on multiple accounts.

So, after thinking about it, we figured a fair penalty would be a short suspension. That way, when they come back to the game, they’ll have had time to earn their gryphons. Which seems fitting.

There is no word if anyone will face suspensions over exploiting Lord Bob (I’m not going to try to spell it) for tons of loot.

We got some clarification today on those free Character Transfer Tokens

One day only! Get a free character transfer token from the in-game Marketplace and choose your own server. Up to five moves allowed per account. UPDATE: Transfers are only valid on this day. All moves must be made during this day’s promotion. The item is NO RENT and will disappear after the day’s promotion is over.

If you are an EQ2X player with Bronze or Silver access (a Gold monthly subscription is roughly analygous to an EQ2 live subscription), and are thinking about buying Destiny of Velious, you may wish to read this excellent post by Claviarm on the EQ2 Extended Forums about some extra fees you may be on the hook for:

So now that the NDA has been lifted, I just wanted to let all the bronze and silver players out there know ahead of time that Destiny of Velious may not be a wise purchase unless you also set aside some money for equipment unlockers. Right from the beginning, the solo quests give out legendary gear. I didn’t spend a lot of time playing the beta, so it’s entirely possible I missed something, but I didn’t run across a single item that was TREASURED or below.

To put it another way, the $40 or more that you spend on DoV will get you almost nothing on its own. The new content expects you to be in the new gear, and you can’t use any of it without buying unlock tokens.  Just a friendly caveat to all you potential emptors out there.

And if there are any bronze players out there who are thinking about buying the expansion without going silver, unlikely though that may be, know that almost everything on the faction merchants costs more platinum than you’re allowed to carry.

Ignoring the immediate trolling response this post received, this raises an important point. If all of the solo quests reward LEGENDARY and above rewards, then you will need to buy Equipment Unlockers which run 250SC for 5 unlocks.  If you complete a bunch of quests and receive a full new set of armor, jewelry, weapons, charms, cloak, etc., so let’s say 20 items, that will cost you $10.00 ($5.00 if you got SC on sale) to equip it all.

From Kaitheel on the EQ2 Forums:

Barring any unforeseen issues arising, the current plan is:

  • Erollisi Day will be activated on all servers (international and & test included) Wednesday Feb 9th.
  • Erollisi Day will be deactivated at the end of day on Sunday Feb 20th for most servers.
  • For servers that are affected by merges during the event’s time period, we will extend Erollisi Day to the end of day on Monday Feb 21st.

Also, if you have a bunch of tokens from other seasonal events taking up valuable bag space:

There is going to be an NPC that exchanges any of the different love loot (notes or candy) for a single type. It’ll function exactly like the [Nights of the Dead] candy trader did. That should help with the inventory!
