Dyth'dal is an ancient elven language, but it does not correspond to any separate or unknown race of elves. A few of the oldest elves might remember when it was spoken, but now only a few very accomplished scholars read and write it.

Yeah, I have a fix for that checked in and on the way. The waypoint window is supposed to show you an actual waypoint for the piece.

Unfortunately, we don't have a cinematic for the crash and the fires starting in Freeport, so you come onto the scene afterwards and have to piece it all together.

This thread is for feedback and issues with the new World Event quest lines and the disaster in Freeport.

Strange events are afoot in Qeynos and Freeport! Intrepid adventurers should seek out Royal Librarian Brinn in Qeynos Harbor and Sir Tallen Yevix in West Freeport.

The quest lines start with “Tinmizer's Magnificent Messenger” on the Freeport side and “A Lost  Library Book” on the Qeynos side. They're heavily lore-focused, so watch out for spoilers on this thread!

I'm glad you like them!

Scythienne: Thanks a lot for the screenshot! That helped me to finally identify what was happening here.
Everyone: I can't say exactly when this will get fixed but here's what seems to be happening:
1) The tank pulls Mayong up against the wall.
2) A semi-random number of seconds later, Mayong summons a couple vampiric protectors.
3)Since the vampiric protectors spawn directly in front of and behind Mayong, one of them is outside of the world.
4) Wait a half second or so. The vampire that's outside of the world breaks his encounter because it's bugged.
5) The anti-exploit script on this encounter makes it spawn a new one at the same location.
6) TPK. Infinite loop of vampire spawns.
Now from the above description you should glean the following:
It is a very bad idea to fight Mayong up against a wall right now.
There should be no problem if you fight him in the middle of the room.
So in summary: Please do not fight Mayong up against the wall until this is fixed! Take him down in the middle of the room instead.
I'll post on this thread again if I learn anything new. Thank you.

That's a good question. Right now it switches automatically.

Yeah, those used to be hard to get. I killed boarfiends for about 15 minutes (about 40-50 kills) and got SIX of them. 3 of them from the SAME GROUP. Yay SoE! /easymode for all!

That does sound a little high, particularly the part about getting three of them in a row from the same encounter. The odds of that used to be around 1 in a million and while it's a bit less rare now, I'll see if there isn't a bug with those boarfiends.

My bad! This will be covered in the next regular hotfix, which will be very soon.

Sorry, I didn't announce this clearly at update time and I should have.

Yes, the Lore & Legend body drops were deliberately modified to offer the quests. This change accompanied a couple behind-the-scenes upgrades to how the mastery quest drop tables and random updates actually work, and it all got sort of blended into a vague line in the GU 53 patch notes.

Now, you can start a Lore & Legend quest while you're actually out in the field killing the monsters you need for updates, in addition to getting it from the books should you happen to find them. I know this change doesn't make any sense from a lore perspective, but then again, examining boarfiend spleens to learn more about their weaknesses never made much sense in the first place SMILEY

This decision was motivated by a desire to make the quests smoother and more coherent from a gameplay perspective, especially for new players encountering these quests for the first time. They're not ridiculously easy now — the average is still more than 100 kills to completion — but you are no longer completely at the mercy of the random number generator and third party websites to get and complete your creature masteries.

The vampire mastery quest that was offered through Bloodline Chronicles wasn't actually flagged as “Lore and Legend,” so it didn't count towards the achievement total. There was a live event quest that had the Lore and Legend flag a while back, and that brought the total to 40, but since that can't be obtained anymore it wouldn't have been fair to count it. So as of right now, there are 39 Lore and Legend quests available in the game. When that number changes, the achievements may change too.
